Hello lovely readers! It feels good to be back blogging again. With school back in full swing (which means back to work for me) L’amour chez nous was thrown on the back burner. I’m still sorting out a blog routine that works with my new schedule, so in the meantime I’ll try my best to post two (or maybe three?) times a week.
Today I’m sharing a couple changes I’ve made to our front entry. I’m still super happy with all the organization going on behind those doors, but really, it was all function and no style.
Can you say bland?
Even the carpet (that my darn dog chewed up) kind of faded into the overall beige effect the space had going.
Thankfully, now it’s looking a little livelier!
As much as I liked that little rug from Crate and Barrel, ultimately, it was too small and too beige. I think this replacement from Ikea for $24 makes a much bolder statement (and shows a lot less dirt and dog hair!).
I also came across this gold mirror on clearance and Home Sense. For $12, it was a steal! The scale is perfect.
Now, I’m left with this dresser.
As a hand-me-down, it’s great. Super functional, very solid, but not exactly great looking. I think it’s what keeps me second guessing my choice about the light blue chevron wall. Should I have gone navy? Is chevron too much? Maybe basic stripes would have been better? Anyway, I digress.
I’d love some opinions on what to do with it. I had thought originally of going with a dark stain and adding silver pulls like these ones from Home Depot, but I don’t feel confident enough in my skills to mix and match metals and pair those with the gold mirror.
I thought about picking up a colour I found from House Tweaking (I can only hope that one day I manage a home so stylish!) like the one in this dresser/desk,
Or maybe more like this one?
Or maybe instead going with a basic white or straight black. What do you think? Truly, I’m stuck. I would love love love some opinions!
PS: Check back tomorrow for the link to my first guest post at Label Me Organized! Let me tell you, I am excited!
