Happy New Years lovely readers! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family. Mine was surprisingly relaxed until about half way through Boxing Day brunch… I was sick in bed for over a week! Luckily, I came across these a few days ago, and I’m back to my happy little self!
They’re perfect! I’ve been on the hunt for a pair for over a year now. I fell for these one in white from Pottery Barn and of course everything else I’ve found has paled in comparison… I just can’t spend nearly $1000 on two tiny tables for our bedroom!
So here’s where my bedroom stayed: one hand-me-down folding table from my mum, and a nightstand that my father made me over 13 years ago.
They weren’t bad, but up close, they were certainly looking a little worse for wear. I was cruising Winners the other day when I found this lovely black one. When I stumbled upon a matching one a few aisles down, I had to have them!
Again, here’s what our bedroom looked like before:
As much as I was thinking white originally, I prefer the black. They add a pleasant contrast to the white bed I think. I thought I’d throw one of my silk scarves on the bed to warm it up for the winter too.
Throughout my search I was hoping to find a pair that would fit a basket or two from Ikea, and these ones were a perfect fit!
I love the criss-cross detail on the side too.
For $100 a piece, and $6 a basket, you really can’t beat it! $224 total.
I loved them so much they inspired me to add a little to our bedroom too. My mission for the room has been to add all sorts of texture… So far I had the soft grey and white rug, the patina of the battered gold on our antique chest, the smooth lines of my bistro chair,
The reflective silver of the lamps and upholstery nails, the pale blue satin headboard, even the folds in the texture of my duvet cover.
It still seemed a bit dull… But then, I read about plants to add texture on AT! Where have they been all my life?? (Is it reasonable to get this excited about a plant? Probably not… While my friends are recounting their eventful New Year’s eve, I’m all about my new plants.)
But really, how pretty does that fern and ivy look on our dresser? I clearly need to get a few more for our living room. (The little glass knobs aren’t bad for texture either, if I do say so myself :)
They add so much life to our little room. Plus, I asked for a few that could survive low-light apartments, and this one doesn’t even need to be watered more than once a month! My kind of plant.
With the plants and my woven baskets, I’m finally starting to feel like there’s depth and interest in here.
What have you added to your home recently? Anything you don’t know how you possibly have been living without? I’d love to hear from you!
