2013. Honestly, I’m glad it’s over. It was… an eventful year to say the least. More than a few personal tragedies (I may one day share, but I don’t think I’m quite there yet), but some beautiful moments too. Our family grew with two perfect little nieces, and I had a romantic proposal story to share with you all too.
We moved, I started a new position as a youth worker, and of course… I started this blog! It weighs on me, stresses me, steals away my time, and I love it.
Not only did I start it, but I was featured in some of my favourite blogs (I Heart Organizing, anyone?), in July, I designed and created my own site, and in the fall, I stepped over to Label Me Organized for my first guest post.
Here are your favourite 5 posts from L’amour chez nous in 2013!
I still love this project and will absolutely recreate it in the next home we live in! I would however spray it with a protective coat next time to make it simpler to clean.
What can I say? I still love stripes. I have to stop myself from constantly choosing them for our home!
Such a simple project. I might make some new ones for the winter sometime soon… I’m thinking red could add a nice punch of colour.
Apparently I’m not the only one who found Ribba frames surprisingly difficult to hang!
And of course, number 1…
This project was so effective. If only I could find a solution as easy as this one for Shaun’s laundry pile on our bedroom floor..! To see more, check out my updated House Tour, Organize and Projects pages!
So what does 2014 hold?
For one… less frequent posts, unfortunately. I’m still undoubtedly keeping up the blog, but I don’t think I’ll be able to manage multiple posts a week.
I’ve decided what to do with my life! A little over two years ago, I realized I wanted to be a counsellor, but I wasn’t entirely sure what it would look like. After making and remaking up my mind, I’ve settled on a school counsellor. It may not be quite as exciting (or possibly as lucrative) as starting up my own practice, this past year, my priorities have shifted. Do I still want to work on a career? Absolutely. But I would like one that would allow me to focus on … having a family. I can always go into practice later on, but for the first few years, I’ll have maternity leave, benefits, daytime hours, summers off… All those wonderful things.
So how does that affect the blog?
Well for one, I’m applying to my teaching degree next September, which means I also need to catch up on yet another French course this winter. I will absolutely keep working away at my home, but it will most likely be a few posts a month as opposed to a few posts a week. I still need to tackle a bedroom wall, add some storage in the living room, clean out some cupboards…
My content will grow too. Making up my rental will still be my main focus, but I do have another fun project to plan too… My wedding! We’re not tying the knot until May 2015, but you can expect some wedding related posts and projects to spring up here and there.
So there you have it. A quick recap of 2013, and look at what’s to come in 2014! What projects are you proud to have accomplished last year? Anything you’re happy to leave behind? What are you looking forward to in the coming months? I always love to hear from you!
