So we’re halfway through the Style Cure and I actually feel like I’m making tangible progress! Well, to be accurate, Shaun is making progress.
Last weekend, I was having a rough day. I was on my way to a bridal shower a ways out from my house, so I was already worried about finding the place. I couldn’t find the gift I wanted, then I ran out of wrapping paper when I got home; I looked in a number of different places before I found wrapping paper; it ended up being ugly wrapping that didn’t match the other gift I had for her; I was already 30 minutes late… Silly things really, and I knew it, but when some old man made a comment at me, I’d had it.
(I was wrapping a the gift out of the trunk of my car in some strip mall parking lot when a beat up car slows, the window rolls down and the guy says,
“Can you wrap my presents for me?”
I hate to think what he meant by that.)
“Shaun-I’m-so-angry-I-can’t-stand-it-here-I-don’t-know-where-I’m-going-I’m-so-lost-this-nasty-old-man-was-insulting-me-my-present-looks-terrible-I’m-so-angry!” I yelled unreasonably into my cell phone.
“Lauren, get off the phone, turn on your google map, and just get there.” Shaun responded calmly. Ughhhh… Fine.
A second later, my phone beeped and this popped up in my screen:
Shaun messaged me that he was going to surprise me when I got home, but he thought I needed a pick me up. Let me tell you, I was all smiles after seeing this photo of our bedroom! (Keep in mind I was only gone for the afternoon. He managed to get through this in a couple of hours!)
This weekend I picked up the new duvet I had my eye on. Our room is clearly not finished (and by no means pin-worthy) but here’s where we’re at in our bedroom refresh!
It’s looking a lot less muddy and dull than it did at the beginning of the month…
This next photo probably represents the colour of our room most accurately. I loved our kitchen wall so much and we had plenty left over, so it just made sense to go with the same colour.
White sheets were definitely the right decision. The subtle lines are so simple and classic. Love love love. Plus, I can always add some extra details to the pillows if ever I want to.
I think the neutral grey and white will make a nice neutral backdrop for some graphic accessories. I’ll still be adding pillows, maybe a throw, some nailhead trim and black and white photos to fill my blank frames.
From an organization standpoint, I need need need to do something with the mess of cords by my bed. It’s on the list.
Here’s where I’m at:
1. Paint an accent wall. 2. Buy a new duvet cover.
3. Paint our mirror: Halfway. Check back later this week to see the results!
4. Develop photos for our Ribba frames.
5. Swap out the hardware in our dresser.
6. Add some pillows and accessories.
And a couple more I’m adding in today:
7. Create a concealed charging station.
8. Add nailhead trim to our headboard.
Of course, as much as I tried to get all my supplies for my upcoming projects this weekend, I have more to find since I’m constantly adding to my list of projects. It’s ridiculous how often I’m in Home Depot for something as small as a can of spray paint or screws! What DIY’s are you working on for the Cure? Anything you’re proud to have accomplished this weekend?
